About Me
Apprentice in sewing, cooking and gardening. First-time-mom-to-be this coming September!
I grew up in Shanghai, China during a time when people still went to tailors to get their clothes custom made. My mom is very talented in sewing and made me many pretty dresses I still have fond memory of.
After going to college in Maine, USA, I worked in New York for a few years and took part time design classes from the Fashion Institute of Technology. I tried my hands on graphic design, knitwear, shoe making and silver jewelry making among other things. I bought my sewing machine, a second hand Necchi on Ebay to trim pants but never thought I’d use it for more than that.
In 2006 I moved to Tokyo for work and to travel around Asia. I enjoyed every moment there learning, exploring, making new friends and eating gorgeous food. I started sewing out of blue one day. My first project was a Chinese Qipao dress, hand-held by a Japanese pattern book. It was in Tokyo that I met the love of my life, my husband Justin =)
We got married in 2010 and now live in South London and Tampa, Florida for Justin’s work (two very different temperatures year around). I’m enjoying being a full time housewife happily cooking, sewing and learning the British national hobby of gardening. We are expecting our first baby in September 2012 =) God has truly blessed us abundantly.
